Kong The Striker

A giant ape in a stadium, bicycle-kicks, golden boots and a trophy Wild — Kong The Striker is Spadegaming's football slot, and it's built on one good idea: every cascade opens more ways and climbs the multiplier. I ran the demo through the free spins and tracked the ladder.

THE FULL REVIEW

Seven stops around the ride — what it is, how it plays, and where the money really moves.

1 A floodlit stadium and a footballing ape

Kong The Striker opens on a bright stadium under floodlights, a portrait-orientation board floating over the pitch. The symbols are all football kit — bicycle-kick strikers, golden boots, gold-and-green gloves, a corner flag, a red whistle, a stadium, plus card royals. It's the football / King Kong / sports theme timed for a World Cup summer, and it's bright, loud and legible.

2 Expanding ways — the board grows as you win

This is the clever bit. The board starts at 1,200-odd ways and every cascade unlocks more rows, so the ways-count balloons — I watched it climb through 8,000, 28,800 and up to 34,560 ways as symbols kept falling. Wins pay as Multiway (1,024+), matching symbols vanish, new ones cascade in, and the board keeps widening. One good drop can chain a long way.

3 The rising multiplier and the trophy Wild

Riding on top of the cascades is a multiplier that climbs — the counter at the top of the screen ticked ×1 → ×2 → ×4 across my run, and it goes higher in the free spins. A gold trophy Wild expands to fill its reel and substitutes for the pay symbols; a gold football Scatter triggers the free games. Cascades feeding an ever-rising multiplier is exactly the engine that makes the 10,000x ceiling reachable — you need the chain to keep lighting under a big number.

4 Free spins, mode choice and the buy

Three or more Scatters trigger the free spins, where the multiplier carries and climbs harder, retriggers add more spins, and you often get to choose your mode (fewer spins at a higher starting multiplier, or more spins lower). Don't fancy the wait? A Buy Free Spins button sits on the right of the reels for a direct entry. It's the honest modern package: cascade, climb, or pay to skip in.

5 The maths, and the ceiling

The numbers stack up well: 96.05% RTP, Med–High variance and a proper 10,000x max win — the standout figure in this batch by a mile. A 10,000x ceiling on a fair RTP is a genuine reason to look; the catch is Med–High variance, so the flat spins between the good cascades are just as real. Chase the multiplier with a budget, not your whole night. — and if you use the buy, treat it as a ticket you might not cash.

The house rules, plainly

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Grid & wins. Multiway (1,024+ ways). Matching symbols on adjacent reels pay from the left; the ways-count expands as the board grows.
  2. Cascades & expanding ways. Winning symbols are removed and new ones cascade in. Each cascade unlocks more rows, so the ways-count climbs (seen rising past 8,000, 28,800 and up to 34,560).
  3. Rising multiplier. A win multiplier climbs across cascades (×1 → ×2 → ×4 seen in the base game) and carries and climbs harder inside the free spins.
  4. Trophy Wild & Scatter. A gold trophy Wild expands on its reel and substitutes for pay symbols. A gold football Scatter triggers the free spins with 3 or more.
  5. Free spins & buy. 3+ Scatters award free spins with a carrying multiplier, retriggers for extra spins and a mode choice. A Buy Free Spins option gives direct entry.

HOW I PLAYED IT

Demo first, on a €100 demo bet. Four frames off my screen: the base board at ×1 (1,200 ways), a cascade win at ×2, the trophy Wild expanding, and the free spins running at ×4.

The base board at ×1 with 1,200 ways open — bicycle-kick strikers, boots, gloves, a corner flag, the gold football Scatter and card royals over a floodlit stadium, the green BUY FREE SPINS button on the right.
BASE · x1The base board at ×1 with 1,200 ways open — bicycle-kick strikers, boots, gloves, a corner flag, the gold football Scatter and card royals over a floodlit stadium, the green BUY FREE SPINS button on the right.
A cascade win at ×2 with the ways-count ballooned to 28,800 — strikers, boots and gloves filling the widened board for a WIN of 19.20.
WIN · x2A cascade win at ×2 with the ways-count ballooned to 28,800 — strikers, boots and gloves filling the widened board for a WIN of 19.20.
The gold trophy Wild expanding to fill its reel next to the gold football Scatter — 8,000 ways showing, boots, whistle and gloves cascading around it.
TROPHY WILDThe gold trophy Wild expanding to fill its reel next to the gold football Scatter — 8,000 ways showing, boots, whistle and gloves cascading around it.
The free spins running at ×4 with the board out to 34,560 ways — a long cascade of strikers, boots and flags closing at a TOTAL WIN of 24.80.
FREE SPINS · x4The free spins running at ×4 with the board out to 34,560 ways — a long cascade of strikers, boots and flags closing at a TOTAL WIN of 24.80.

The honest tally: the base game cascaded into a WIN 19.20 as the ways-count opened up to 28,800 at ×2, the expanding trophy Wild stacked its reel, and in the free spins the multiplier reached ×4 with the board out to 34,560 ways for a TOTAL WIN of 24.80. That's the machine working exactly as advertised — the chain lights, the ways balloon, the multiplier climbs. No 10,000x this short run, of course; that ceiling needs a long cascade under a big multiplier and the stars aligning. Ride the free spins in demo, cap the buy, let the big one come to you. — Tess

The token verdict
THE VERDICT
8.2
Eight-two, back of the net

What earns its ticket

  • Expanding ways climb from ~1,200 past 34,000 as cascades chain
  • Rising multiplier that carries and climbs harder in the free spins
  • A genuine 10,000x max win on a fair 96.05% RTP
  • Expanding trophy Wild, mode-choice free spins and a buy option
  • Bright, timely World-Cup-summer football theme

What to watch

  • Med–High variance: flat spins where the chain never lights are common
  • A high ways-count still needs the cascade to keep feeding it
  • Buy-feature play burns a bankroll fast if you don't cap it
  • The football / Kong mash-up is squarely a seasonal-hook theme

Eight-point-two because the expanding-ways-plus-rising-multiplier engine is genuinely fun, the 96.05% RTP is fair and the 10,000x ceiling is real and reachable — and not higher because Med–High variance means the flat spins are just as real. Ride the free spins in demo and cap the buy. — Tess Hale

Ex-arcade cashier turned pokies writer. Tess reads a slot the way she used to read a coin-op: what it costs to play, what the machine actually gives back, and whether the “big one” is real or just paint on the glass. Sceptical, warm, allergic to hype.

  • Demo first, always — “the cheapest ticket in the park.”
  • Buys the feature on purpose and prints what it returned — no cherry-picking.
  • Logs the real ladder she hit that session, not the marketing ceiling.

KONG THE STRIKER FAQ

What is the RTP and max win on Kong The Striker?
The published RTP is 96.05% and the maximum win is 10,000x your stake — the biggest ceiling in this batch. Volatility is Med–High, and it pays as Multiway (1,024+ ways) on a board whose ways-count expands as you win.
How do the expanding ways and multiplier work?
Every cascade removes the winning symbols, drops new ones in and unlocks more rows, so the ways-count climbs — I saw it rise past 8,000, 28,800 and up to 34,560. A win multiplier climbs alongside it (×1 → ×2 → ×4 in my base game) and carries and climbs harder inside the free spins.
How do I trigger the free spins, and can I buy them?
Land three or more gold football Scatters to trigger the free spins, where the multiplier carries and climbs, retriggers add spins and you often choose your mode. There's also a Buy Free Spins button for direct entry — treat it as a ticket you might not cash.
Can I try Kong The Striker for free first?
Yes — like almost every slot we cover, Spadegaming's Kong The Striker has a free demo mode. Scouting a cascade-and-multiplier slot in demo before you spend is the cheapest ticket in the park, and it's exactly how I started this one.
Is Allstars Land a place to gamble on this slot in New Zealand?
No. Allstars Land doesn't offer gambling, and there's no NZ-licensed way to play these slots for money — the local market is offshore and unregulated.
