Giga Zombies

A red-haired adventurer with a revolver, a rotting Aztec jungle, and zombies in four colours: Giga Zombies is Yggdrasil leaning on its Gigablox engine, where symbols clump into giant 3×3 blocks. I ran the demo at €2.00 a spin to watch the mega-blocks and the free-spin multiplier band do their thing. Here's the honest read — RTP wart and all.

THE FULL REVIEW

Seven stops around the ride — what it is, how it plays, and where the money really moves.

1 A green rot of a jungle

Giga Zombies sets its 6-reel board deep in a poison-green Aztec jungle — crumbling temples, bones in the undergrowth, a skull-and-torch charm swinging in the corner. The cast is cartoon-grim: shrieking red, green, blue and purple zombies as the premiums, worn card royals (10 A K Q J) as the lows, and a red FREE SPINS scatter. It's Yggdrasil doing horror with a wink — nasty enough to have character, cartoon enough to keep it light.

2 Gigablox: symbols the size of your fist

The engine here is Gigablox. Symbols can land as giant 3×3 mega-blocks — a single zombie filling a nine-cell chunk of the grid — which turns the board into a shifting mosaic of big and small tiles. When a mega-block matches, it counts as nine of that symbol, so the wins arrive in lumps. It's the whole reason to play this over a flat 6-reeler: the board never sits still.

3 Avalanches feed the Gigablox meter

Every win triggers an avalanche — winning symbols clear, new ones cascade in — and the board tracks your avalanche wins toward more Gigablox reels. In my capture the top band read '4 AVALANCHE WINS = GIGABLOX', spelling out that stringing cascades together upgrades how many reels can drop mega-blocks. Chain enough and the whole grid can go giant at once.

4 Free spins, and a multiplier up to ×50

Land enough FREE SPINS scatters and you're into the feature — my demo band showed the trigger paying 8 free spins (and at one point a +50× bet boost printed alongside a six-scatter hit). The real draw is the multiplier: in free spins the band read 'AVALANCHE WIN IN FREE SPINS = + MULTIPLIER UP TO 50X', so every cascade in the feature bumps a running multiplier that can climb toward ×50. That's where the 6,260x ceiling lives.

5 The maths — and the RTP catch

Here's the honest bit. The max win is 6,260x and variance is High, which fits a Gigablox-plus-multiplier build — long flat stretches, then a mega-block round that pays for the session. But the RTP is flagged as a range, and the figure on file is 94.0%. That's below the industry-standard fair, and because it's a range some casinos may run it lower still. A buy feature is on the menu for the impatient. Check the RTP badge at your casino before you commit — a couple of points off 96% adds up fast on a high-variance game.

The house rules, plainly

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Grid & Gigablox. A 6-reel Yggdrasil board where symbols can land as giant 3×3 mega-blocks (Gigablox). A matched mega-block counts as nine of that symbol.
  2. Avalanche. Winning symbols are removed after they pay and new ones cascade in. Chaining avalanche wins upgrades how many reels can drop Gigablox mega-blocks (the demo band read '4 avalanche wins = Gigablox').
  3. Free spins & multiplier. FREE SPINS scatters trigger the feature (the demo showed 8 free spins on trigger). Inside free spins, each avalanche win adds to a running multiplier that can climb up to ×50.
  4. Buy feature & RTP range. A buy feature can purchase entry to the bonus for the impatient. Note the RTP is published as a range with a default of 94.0% — it may differ by casino.

HOW I PLAYED IT

Demo run at €2.00 a spin on an €11,000 play balance. What my capture actually caught was the base board and the feature-explainer bands cycling across the top of the grid — not a completed paying round — so I'm reporting the mechanic the game showed me, not a payout I didn't see.

Giga Zombies base board — a 6-reel jungle grid with red, green, blue and purple zombies, card royals and the red FREE SPINS scatter. The top band shows a six-scatter line reading '8 FS + 50X BET'. Demo balance €11,000, bet €2.00.

The free-spins explainer: 'AVALANCHE WIN IN FREE SPINS = + MULTIPLIER UP TO 50X', with a four-scatter line showing 8 FS + 1.5X BET. The running multiplier in the feature is where the 6,260x ceiling is built.

The bands told the story cleanly: '4 AVALANCHE WINS = GIGABLOX' for chaining cascades into more mega-block reels, a six-scatter line paying 8 free spins + 50× bet, and inside the feature 'AVALANCHE WIN IN FREE SPINS = + MULTIPLIER UP TO 50X'. That ×50 free-spin multiplier stacked on a full Gigablox board is the only road to the 6,260x ceiling — and on a 94% game you'll want it in demo a good while before you spend real money. — Tess

The token verdict
THE VERDICT
7.8
Seven and three-quarter tokens in the tray

What earns its ticket

  • Gigablox 3×3 mega-blocks keep the board shifting and pay in lumps
  • Free-spin multiplier climbs up to ×50 on chained avalanches
  • Genuine 6,260x ceiling with proper High-variance swings
  • Cartoon-grim zombie art has real character

What to watch

  • 94.0% default RTP is below the industry standard — and it's a range, so it can be lower
  • High variance means long flat stretches between the big mega-block rounds
  • Zombie/Aztec-jungle theme is well-trodden ground
  • Buy feature can burn a bankroll fast on a sub-96% game

Seven-point-eight because Gigablox mega-blocks and a ×50 free-spin multiplier make for a genuinely lively High-variance board — and not higher because the 94.0% default RTP is below fair and published as a range, which is a real cost on a swingy game. Great to watch in demo; check the RTP badge before you spend. — Tess Hale

Ex-arcade cashier turned pokies writer. Tess reads a slot the way she used to read a coin-op: what it costs to play, what the machine actually gives back, and whether the “big one” is real or just paint on the glass. Sceptical, warm, allergic to hype.

  • Demo first, always — “the cheapest ticket in the park.”
  • Buys the feature on purpose and prints what it returned — no cherry-picking.
  • Logs the real ladder she hit that session, not the marketing ceiling.

GIGA ZOMBIES FAQ

What is the RTP and max win on Giga Zombies?
The default published RTP is 94.0% — and it's listed as a range, so some casinos may run it lower. The maximum win is 6,260x your stake and volatility is High. Check the RTP badge at your casino before you play; a couple of points matters on a swingy game.
How do Gigablox mega-symbols work?
Symbols can land as giant 3×3 blocks that fill nine cells at once. A matched mega-block counts as nine of that symbol, so wins arrive in lumps. Chaining avalanche wins upgrades how many reels can drop these blocks.
How big is the free-spins multiplier?
Inside free spins, each avalanche win adds to a running multiplier that can climb up to ×50. My demo showed the trigger paying 8 free spins. That ×50 multiplier on a full Gigablox board is the route to the 6,260x ceiling.
Can I try Giga Zombies for free first?
Yes — like almost every slot we review, Giga Zombies has a free demo mode. On a High-variance game with a 94.0% RTP, scouting it in demo before you spend is the cheapest ticket in the park, and it's exactly how I start every session.
Can I play Giga Zombies for real money at Allstars Land?
No — Allstars Land is a review site and doesn't offer gambling or host real-money play. Giga Zombies runs at licensed offshore casinos, none of which hold a New Zealand licence. If betting stops being fun, it's free and confidential to ring the Gambling Helpline NZ on 0800 654 655 or text 8006. Set a budget before you spin and treat any win as a bonus, not a plan.
